SARAH FULLER MAKES SPORTS HISTORY
I am a huge believer in that anything is possible. Dragons, Big Foot, The Loch Ness Monster, and a woman playing football. Yes, you read that correctly as it was not a mistake.
Vanderbilt University senior kicker, Sarah Fuller made sports history yesterday as she became the first woman to play in a power 5 NCAA Football game. She is also a goalkeeper for the soccer team. Fuller kicked off to begin the second half of the game yesterday as Vanderbilt played the Missouri Tigers. She tried out for the football team earlier in the year.
The Commodores had a shortage of players due to the corona virus quarantine. Therefore, they were short as they made their trip to Missouri and needed a replacement at the kicker position asap. Who better than a soccer goalkeeper? After all, there have been many soccer players that have gone onto become successful kickers n college football history as well as the NFL.
Hopefully, this will open more doors for females when it comes to sports like college football. Once again, anything is possible, and this just adds to that list as well. It should be very interesting to see what happens with Fuller and if she will continue on as the teams kicker.
